  • Obituary: ASHBY -- Barbara Billings Langille, 79, of Ashby,Massachusetts died Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the home she loved, in the presence of her family and friends, after a lengthy illness. Her husband of 52 years, Raymond Langille, died in December 2006. Mrs. Langille was born in Gardner, May 5, 1931, a daughter of Maurice P. and Anna (Ahlin) Billings, and has resided in Ashby for nearly 60 years. She graduated from Hingham High School and continued her education at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. Mrs. Langille had worked several years as a nurse's aide at Birchwood Manor Nursing Home, now known as the Golden Living Center in Fitchburg and in the Burbank Hospital Child Development Center. She had also worked as a substitute teacher in the Ashby Elementary School. She was a member of the Ashby Congregational Church, and enjoyed painting and writing poetry. She had been active in the Ashby Girl Scout. She is survived by her son, Scott B. Langille of Ashby, four daughters, Sheila R. Ellis of Rindge, NH, Sandra J. Cross of Vienna, West Virginia, Susan L. Cormier of Fitchburg, Sallee Brazeil of Ashburnham; a brother, Preston Billings of Richmond, Washington. She also leaves 14 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sherilyn D. Carmichael of Rindge, NH. LANGILLE -- A funeral service will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Ashby Congregational Church, 21 New Ipswich Road, Ashby. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend will be private. Calling hours are 4-7 p.m., Saturday at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg.
