  • Obituary: LEWIS, Darrell Raymond - 75, Tatamagouche, passed away January 30, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Five Islands, he was a son of the late Roy and Emma Lewis, and the late Jim and Lena Glenn who raised him. Darrell was a loving husband, caring father, special grandfather and great-grandfather, and was always there to lend a helping hand to his neighbours. Darrell had several different careers throughout his life. In his early years, he was a woodsman, truck driver and butcher. He was an employee of the Colchester East Hants School Board serving as janitor for 27 years at Tatamagouche Elementary School and then North Colchester High School from where he retired. Darrell loved his animals. He had a hobby farm for years. He also enjoyed listening to and playing country music in his band. The best gift he could ever receive was lobster. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Gertie (Langille); children, Sylvia Murphy, Raymond, Elizabeth Tattrie, Ethel Gorman, Derek, and Nicole; grandchildren, Lisa, Julie, Randy, Raomi, Holly, Sophia, and Emma; great-grandchildren , Ashley, Skye, Bryanna, and Braycen; stepsisters, Ethel Perkins and Mary Kathryn Lawrence. He was predeceased by son, Brian; sisters, Hazel Chapman, and Darlene, his twin brother, Arnold; stepbrothers, Willy Glenn and Lawrence Glenn. Visitation will be held today 7-9 p.m. and funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 2, Rev. Sandra Carruthers officiating, both in Coulter's Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche (657-3288). Spring burial will be in Sunnybrae Cemetery.
