The funeral services took place Monday afternoon being conducted by Rev. D. Farquhar when a large number of neighbors and friends gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to a worthy citizen. Mr Gates was a man of sterling integrity and uprightness of character, industrious and faithful in all the walks of life. He was a kind husband and father, and bore his suffering with unfailing patience and fortitude. He leaves a widow and son, W.A. Gates and two daughters, Mrs. F.T. Goucher and Miss Annie Gates also eight grand children to all of whom sympathy is extended.
