  • Obituary: Wichita Falls - Tommy Milton Willson, 89, left his earthly life on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Lunn's. Graveside services will be held on 1:00, December 21, 2020, at Indian Creek Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Tommy was born on June 4, 1931, to Clarence and Ella Willson in Dulin Community. He grew up on the farm with two sisters and three brothers. He attended school in Brooksmith. During his freshman year, Tommy met Erva June Hanna, who later became his wife. He graduated from Brooksmith in 1948 and then attended Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, Texas. Tommy and June married on June 4, 1951. He then entered the Navy and served 22 months during the Korean War. After serving his country, he returned to Brownwood to finish a BS degree in accounting, while working at Weakley Watson Hardware. After graduation, he accepted a position with the Internal Revenue Service in 1957 as an Examining Agent. His career spanned 29 years with several special assignments in Dallas and New York. Tommy worked in the private sector after his retirement from the IRS providing tax services from his home. Three sons were born to Tommy and June-Alvin, 1955; Rex 1957; and Brent 1962. Rex later lost his life at the early age of 33 due to an industrial accident. Tommy's wife, June, lost her 3-year battle with cancer on September 2, 1969. Tommy then married Verla Ruth Little on December 26, 1970. Ruth brought two daughters to the marriage, Roseann and Cindy. Tommy and Ruth traveled extensively together and enjoyed many camping trips with other campers. They also enjoyed bluegrass festivals and traveled to many towns to enjoy the music and fellowship. Ruth passed from this life in February 2008, with symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's. Tommy then re-acquainted with an old friend, Betty Fowlkes, who he knew from his time in the Navy. He then moved to Abilene, Texas, where they enjoyed several trips together. Tommy and Betty were companions, and he was a care giver to her until her passing. Tommy was a member of Faith Village Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years. His greatest joy was restoring old farm tractors, one being his father's 1937 Allis Chalmers WC. He brought it back to its original condition. Tommy and his brother, Percy, went on to restore several tractors and attended numerous tractor shows. They even traveled to Canada and brought two tractors back for restoration. It was a tradition in the family to enter the Christmas Parade in downtown Wichita Falls with all the children and grandchildren sitting in a hay wagon pulled by one of his tractors. Tommy was preceded in death by his wife June; his wife Ruth; his son Rex; his parents Clarence and Ella; sisters Sarah Wells and Nina Carr; and brothers Glynn and Robert. He is survived by his son Alvin and wife Susan; son Brent and wife Connie; daughter-in-law Debbie Bussey and husband Orval; stepdaughters Roseann Caffey and Cindy Little; and brother Percy. He has 6 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 step great-grandchildren. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Faith Village Church of Christ in Wichita Falls, Texas, 4100 McNeil Avenue, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
