  • Obituary: Bennett, Bernard S. - 81, of Fox River, Cumberland County died Monday, February 28, 2000 at South Cumberland Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Fraserville, he was the son of the late Ervin and Beatrice (Morris) Bennett. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Royal Canadian Army. He was a retired lumberman. He is survived by his wife, the former Francis Shaw; a son, Peter, and his wife, Ellen, Parrsboro; step-daughter, Laurine Pettis, Fox River; sister, Bella Allen, Toronto; brothers, Basil, Pennfield; Hughie, Howard, both of Williams Lake, B.C.; 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Beulah, Leola, Clara, Daisy; brothers, Wyman, Donald, Roger, Russell, Vernon. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev. Robert Richmond officiating. Memorial donations may be made to South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro, the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
