Louise was a long-time resident of Douglas for many years until shortly before her death, when she moved to Cheyenne. Louise was born on the Stone Ranch in Brown County, Texas on September 10, 1922 as the daughter of Fred Milton and Ola Julia (Dixon) Perry. She graduated from Bangs High School in Bangs, Texas, attended Texas Christian University (TCU), and took her nurses' training at Harris Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas. She later enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps as a Lieutenant Nurse, where she met her husband Leonard Leman "Lenny" Bartshe of Douglas. They married on October 6, 1944 in Lamesa, Texas. After discharge from the service they moved to Douglas, where she began her nursing career at the Converse County Hospital, when it was located at the Prisoner of War Camp. The hospital later moved to its present location where she became the Director of Nurses and surgical nurse for 38 years until her retirement in 1985. She was an active member of the Samuel Mares American Legion Auxiliary and the Samuel Mare American Legion Post #8, where she served many years an Adjutant. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, the Wyoming Cowboys, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Broncos. Louise is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bailey of Cheyenne; her brother, J. Fred (Margaret) Perry of Brownwood, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Vera Bartshe, Bette Olsen, and Ruth Warnock ;brother-in-law, Ray Warnock; as well as several nieces and nephews in both the Douglas area and Texas; and her" adopted family", Chuck Kern family. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, on December 18, 1978; her parents, Fred and Ola Perry; a sister, Fletcher Lancaster; and two brothers, Cullen Perry and Dee Perry of Texas. Burial will take place in Douglas Park Cemetery.
