Notes

  • Occupation: Lumberman/ Farmer
  • Death: Blood Poisoning
  • Obituary: Carleton Sentinel Woodstock,NB March 10,1894 The death of J.V. ARMSTRONG of Perth Centre (Victoria Co.) took place 3rd inst. On 8th Jan. last he complained of a pain in his knee. A few days before, while kneeling on the floor to light the fire, he stuck a tack in his knee which he easily pulled out and as it gave him no pain, he thought no more about it until the date above mentioned. The pain in the knee not yielding to simple treatment, medical aid was sought and the knee was lanced and continued to discharge freely. His general health was soon affected and refused to yield to medical treatment and after suffering for seven weeks and five days, he died on the 3rd. It was a sad sight to see a healthy, robust man lying helpless on his back with pain night and day until the once manly form was reduced to a mere skeleton. He made a noble struggle for life, so heroic, so patient, so hopeful, until his strength was gone and death was welcomed as a sweet relief. He leaves behind him an aged father and mother, a wife and eight children. The funeral cortege which took place Sunday afternoon 4th inst. at the Baptist burial ground, andover, was a very large one.
