Phyllis passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on Friday, July 19, 2024 in the QEII, Halifax Infirmary. Born in Tatamagouche on September 17, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Isabel Langille and Carmen Hiltz. Phyllis spent almost her entire life in the small community of Tatamagouche, where she met and married the love of her life, Roddie Joudrie, and raised her two children, Charlene and Lincoln. Phyllis had a heart of gold and was well known for her kindness to others. She loved her family beyond words, and after her husband passed, long before his time, she worked very hard to provide for her children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to Phyllis. When her husband was alive, Phyllis could be seen on a daily basis, suiting up in her rain slickers, and rubber boots, and heading out on the ocean with Roddie and best friend Eric, to check the traps and haul in the daily catch, and they could frequently be found on weekends at the Legion, or the "Ski-Doo Club" celebrating the catch or cursing the weather! In later years, Phyllis would take whatever job she could find to help sustain her family. These jobs included manual work at the Carpet Factory in Truro, Seasonal Work at the Fish Plant in River John, and even work as a highway flagger in the Construction Industry. Although her favourite passion was fishing lobster. She also had a playful side, including dressing up at Halloween and kept everyone guessing who she was, even as she walked out the door at closing time! She also loved going to the weekly bingo at the Legion, shopping in Truro, and loved planting as many flowers as she could - watching them blossom and grow. Phyllis will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity by the many people whose lives she has touched over the years. She will be lovingly missed and survived by her two children, Charlene MacNutt (Larry) and Lincoln Joudrey (Laura), and her three grandchildren that she loved dearly, Branden (Emma), Myles, "her boys" and little Lily; sisters Ann, Susie and Bonnie; brothers Dexter, Calvin, and Leroy, special son Jim MacNutt (Andrea) and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney Joudrie; her mother, Isabel and father Carmen ,as well as brothers Johnny, Roger, Buddy and sister Nancy. There will be no visitation by request. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 29 at 2 p.m. in Coulter's Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Drive, Tatamagouche, NS, followed by interment in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery. Donations to Phyllis' memory may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Canada or a charity of your choice.
