  • Obituary: Halifax Herald May 17,2005 McBAY, Elizabeth Holmes - 84, formerly of Gaspereau, Kings Co., passed away Monday, May 16, 2005, in The Windsor Elms. Born in Avonport, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Russell and Mary Elizabeth (Holmes) MacDonald. Elizabeth had been a homemaker and a member of Gaspereau Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Gaspereau Women's Institute. She was also a member of Wolfville Silver and Gold Club and was very active in community affairs. She will be sadly missed by her husband, George, Gaspereau; daughters, Darlene (Keith) Keddy, Port Williams; Barbara (Wayne) Garding, Edmonton, Alta.; Marjorie and Mary, both of Dartmouth; son, Kenneth (Nancy), Gaspereau; sisters, Shirley Burgess, Bedford; Lois (Albert) Schofield, Greenwich; Ida Hirtle and Jean (Frank) Sanford, both of New Minas; Helen Huntley, Berwick; Roxie (Russell) Redden, Somerset; Margaret (William) Workman, Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren, Betty Harper, Shelley Hill, Kevin, Kendall, Karl and Kristopher Keddy, Darcy, Carrie, Julia and Rachael McBay, Shannon Hennessy and Danielle Kiltz; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Laura Hutt, Doris Lawrence, and Mary, in infancy; brothers, William and Clarence. Visitation will be held from 12-2 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, in Gaspereau Baptist Church, Rev. Mark Shaw and Rev. Fran Woodside officiating. Following a private family burial in Gaspereau Cemetery, a reception will be held in Gaspereau Community Centre. No flowers by family request. Donations in memory may be made to the Gaspereau Baptist Church, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
