  • Obituary: The Chronicle Herald Halifax, NS Monday, March 5th, 2007 LEGERE, Shirley Beryl - 65, Williamsdale, Cumberland Co., passed away as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Friday, March 2, 2007. Born in Bass River, Colchester Co., she was a daughter of G. Frances (Lewis) Rushton, Meadow Vista Senior Citizen's Complex, Oxford, and the late Edgar W. "Peg" Rushton. She was an exceptional and fantastic wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a devoted sister and homemaker. She was employed with Oxford Frozen Food Limited in Oxford for over 10 years until the time of her passing. She was also employed as a home care worker for four years and kept boarders in her own home for a number of years. She also served as a baby-sitter for anyone who required her services. She was an avid sewer and gardener. Surviving are her stepfather, Alden Fahey, Meadow Vista Senior Citizen's Complex, Oxford; her husband of 16 years, John E. "Jack" Legere; children, Myron (Evelyn), Williamsdale, Cumberland Co.; Stephen "Chappy" (Darlene), Westchester, Cumberland Co.; Shawn, Amherst; Sue Ellen (Kelly), Moncton; grandchildren, Neil (Carly), Andrew (Ashley), Anthony (Becky), Chelsey, Kevin, Joshua, Maxwell, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Madiya, Mason, and Shane; sisters, Geraldine "Jean" (Everett), Wentworth, Cumberland Co.; Muriel (John), Millvale, Cumberland Co.; brother, Archie "Big Arch" (Little Linda), Amherst; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening, with funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, with Rev. Connie Stewart officiating. Interment will take place in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada.
