Jean Mattinson June 29, 1924 - April 29, 2016 Mattinson, P. Jean - 91, Oxford formally of Beckwith, passed away Friday April 29,2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ivy (Stewart) Carter. After raising her children Jean worked as a volunteer at the Hants County Hospital in Windsor. She later trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at the Nova Scotia Hospital in Dartmouth, retiring in 1973. She was an active member of the Oxford Nazarene Church, where she faithfully attended service and for many years taught Sunday school. Surviving are her daughters; Ivy S. Keating, Oxford; Helena (Hunter) Gordon, Black River; Helen M. (Garry) Parks, Trenton, Ont.; Mildred G. Mattinson (Jim Spivey), Windsor, Ont.; Lorraine C. (Lionel) Ruttan, Stoney Plain, Alberta; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Elmer Carter, Oxford; Delbert (Lillian) Carter, Truro; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, W. Corey Mattinson; son, Lynton Corey Mattinson; grandson, Stephen Keating; sister, Olive Jackson; brothers, Stewart and Basil Carter; sons-in-law, Gerald Thomas Keating, and Rev. Glen Clark. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 2, in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930), from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, with Rev. Mark and Rev. Bert Collins officiating. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery with a reception to follow at the St. James Presbyterian Church, Oxford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Gideon Bible Society.
