Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Robert and F. Isabelle (Carter) Lowther. Harold was raised in East Leicester, where he worked on the family farm. He went to work for R.K. Chappell in 1956 and later with Modern Construction. He moved back to Oxford to work at Cobequid Lumber Co. until its closure. He also owned and operated a sugar camp in Leicester for over 20 years. He enjoyed his fishing trips immensely and took great pride in his garden. He also enjoyed his summers with the beach gang at McDonalds Lane in Port Howe from 1967 to 2006. Harold is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mabel E. He was predeceased by brother, George; and in infancy, brother, Eugene, sister, Yvonne, baby brother. A visitation to celebrate Harold's life will be held from 1 - 4 p.m, Wednesday, November 30 in MacDiarmids Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (447-2930).
