Notes

  • Obituary: All of Janet's family are very sad to announce the passing of this wonderful soul in her 80th year. Janet was born in Wallace Bay, to parents William and Freda (Mitchell) McKim. Her early years were spent among family and friends, learning some of the skills that she would be known for her entire life, like baking, sewing, quilting, needlework and developing a strong desire to help out whenever and wherever she could. 64 years ago, Janet married Alex Jamieson and together they shared many adventures. Six wonderful children came first, then a move to Wallace to help Alex start his own business, eventually helping run Harbourview Campground and then beginning her own successful home baking business enjoyed by many locals and summer people alike. Each Grandchild and eventually each Great Grandchild spent special time with Grammie baking their own loaf of bread, swimming with her at the "Bito", learning to play canasta….by McKim rules, or spending time with her at family events. As the years rolled by opportunities for travel came Janet's way and at age 65, she got her license to help with the driving, an accomplishment she and her family were very proud of. Trips across Canada in the camper truck, gold panning in the Yukon, a move to Deer Lake NL before settling into retirement, going to Resolute Bay Nunavut for the trip of a lifetime and visiting in Saskatchewan and Ontario were all adventures thoroughly enjoyed by both. Janet's Sister Trips were very special to her as she joined Marilyn, Jean and Karen to travel to many international destinations over the years. Janet's capacity for giving was endless. Whether it was loving her family or volunteering for the UCW and CGIT, collecting for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, supporting her family to raise funds for Cancer, using her computer skills to record many family stories or just being a wonderful friend, Janet will be sadly missed. Janet leaves behind her husband Alex, six wonderful children; Mary (Dean)Hartling, Pugwash, Weldon (Lynn), Wallace Bay, Kimberley (Stuart), Port Howe, Alvin (Beverly), Warman, Saskatchewan, Herb, Wallace Bay, Christine (Ian), Amherst, fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and sisters Marilyn (Rick), Ontario, Jean (Ken), Malagash and Karen (Tim), Pugwash. Janet has chosen cremation, her faith and her connection to St. John's United Church in Wallace was important to her so a service and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.mmcfunerals.com
