  • Obituary: BLANCHARD, Arthur Stuart "Art" - 75, Middle River Road, Lunenburg Co., died on Thursday, December 8, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was the son of the late Rev. Henry H. and Gladys M. (Sibley) Blanchard. A civil engineer, Art was employed for many years at Standard Paving Maritime Limited - LeFarge Inc., Halifax. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, a parish lay reader and Sunday school superintendent. Art is survived by his wife of 48 years, Florence (Burbidge); daughters, Rev. Sheila (Rev. Paul) Stevens, Richmond Hill, Ont.; Marion (Paul) Hurlburt, Uxbridge, Ont.; Jean (Richard) Gale, Middle River Road; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marion and her husband Richard Herington. As requested there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial and Eucharist service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 12, in St. John's Anglican Church, Chester Basin, with Archdeacon Duanne Tanswell officiating. A private burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada, Maritime Region, 265-5991 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, NS B3H 1H6.
