Born in Brickton, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Beatrice (Phinney) Burbidge. Myrtle was a retired RN from the V.G. Hospital and when she moved to Shelburne she taught the "candy stripers" at Roseway Hospital. She was very active in the Anglican Church and was always there to help cook for their luncheons or knit crafts for their sales. She loved gardening, quilting, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. She always had plenty of hats, scarves and mittens for the grandchildren to wear. She enjoyed spending time at their cottage at Trout Lake and loved spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy: son, Kenneth (Laurel), Woodlawn Drive; daughter, Mary (Peter) Shoup, Ont.; grandchildren, Cory, Angela, Kendra, Lori, Andrea and Lisa and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry (Isobel) Burbidge, Annapolis; sisters, Ethel Burbidge, Jean Wells, and Florence Blanchard; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary. Visitation took place on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. in H. M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Shelburne, where a memorial service was held on Monday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Ed Trevors officiating. Interment of ashes in Pine Grove Cemetery, Albany, at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the N.S. Lung Association.
