Notes

  • Obituary: Mr. Samuel Dodge '96 Died at Wilmot, June 6th, Mr. Samuel Dodge in the 77th year of his age, leaving a family and ten children to mourn their loss, together with a large circle of friends and neighbours. Mr. Dodge was one of the first settlers in this country having removed with his parents from the U.S. in 1783. He was born at or near Poughkeepsie, on the Hudson River, State of New York. He professed to have experienced religion 53 years ago, at which time he united with the Baptist Church at Nictaux, being baptized by Father Chipman, with which Church he continued in unbroken fellowship until the end of his pilgrimage. The religion he professed in life sustained him in death, enabling him to say I know that my Redeemer lives, and because He lives I shall live also. Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord, yea saith the Spirit for they rest from their labours and their works follow them. Christian Messenger August 6,1852
