  • Obituary: Legere, William (Bill) Honall, 83, Hilden, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, November 27, 2013 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Moncton, N.B. he was the son of the late Frank and Inez (McCray) Leger. Bill worked in his early years for both the CNR and CPR Express. He started an upholstery business in 1966 and passed the trade onto his son, Bill Jr. in which they worked together for over 40 years. Bill had a tremendous love for his family and home in Hilden. He was a charter member of the Hilden Fire Brigade and also coached Minor Hockey for South Colchester. Bill could always be seen walking every morning over the years with his faithful pals (dogs) along the old No. 2 highway in Hilden. Bill enjoyed working with tools and loved to create devices to make a job easier. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ida (Crowe); daughter, Denise Legere, North Carolina; sons, William A (Brenda), Hilden, Gary, Princeport, Darren (Wanda), Cape Breton; grandchildren, Stacey (Tim Thomas) Legere, Caitlin Legere, Ceilidh Legere; sisters, Anne Edgett, Marjorie Randall, Vivian Belyea, Roberta MacDonald; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, David Wayne; sister, Irene; brothers, Francis, Hector and Herbert. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 2nd at 1 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Rev. Ian Harrison will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will be in Hilden Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Courtney Smith, Dr. Henderson, Sue Gibbons RN, and the entire Palliative Care and Hospice teams for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or to the Colchester East Hants Palliative Care.
