  • Obituary: CREELMAN (McLellan), Roberta Isabella - Passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2006, in St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, St. Thomas, Ont., at the age of 94. Born August 4, 1911, in Noel, Hants Co., she was the youngest child of the late Robert D. and Mary Elizabeth (O'Brien) McLellan. A graduate of the Provincial Normal School, Truro, in 1932, she taught in two schools in Nova Scotia (Minasville, Hants Co. and Truro Heights, Colchester Co.), and for over 20 years in public schools in the St. Thomas area, including over 12 years at S.S. No.17. She enjoyed teaching, and was always pleased to meet former students and their families. She and her husband Eugene resided in Beaver Brook, Colchester Co., for almost 18 years, before moving to St. Thomas, Ont. in 1951. She was proud of her Maritime roots, returning to Nova Scotia on many visits, right up to her 89th year. Roberta loved the sea air, the Maritime scenery, car trips around the Maritimes, visiting family and old friends, and was known for her enjoyment of lobster, seafood chowder, and ice cream. Roberta loved her far-flung family and maintained close contact with them, particularly her nieces and nephews. A Member of the United Church of Canada, she also enjoyed participating in church life and church activities, both in Old Barns United Church, Colchester Co., and for more than 50 years at Central United Church in St. Thomas, Ont. She will be sadly missed by son, Ira Creelman (Judy), Beaver Brook; daughter, Sharon (Paul Wilson), St. Thomas; grandchildren, Brian (Vickie Lynn) Creelman, Ottawa; Steven (Brenda) Creelman, St. Thomas; Cheryl Tousignant, Edmonton; Laurie Creelman, Beaver Brook; Tina (Remi) MacDonell, Dartmouth; Barbara (Nick) Migliaccio, Fairbanks, Ala. and Bill (Debra) Creelman, Marla (D'Arcy) Magee and Michael Wilson, all of St. Thomas; 17 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and various in-laws, across Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene F. Creelman; son, Silas Creelman (St. Thomas); brothers, Robert, Brown and Silas McLellan (all of Noel); two brothers in infancy; sisters, Martha Ann (Hawley O'Brien) (Noel and Windsor); Lillian E. (Charles "Bud" McLellan) (Boston); Charlotte (William Balcom) (Noel); Greta (James LeShane) (Boston); Madge (Vernon Bennett) (Canning). The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 27, in Central United Church, St. Thomas, Ont., Interment was in Union Cemetery, Union, Ont.
