  • Obituary: Little, Elwyn Ross 80, Truro. The train has left the station. Conductor "Tricky" Elwyn Ross Little has made his last trip. He was born July 11, 1932 and passed away peacefully July 13, 2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by his family. Elwyn was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie Little and infant brother, Gerald. A dedicated trainman, Elwyn was a CN conductor who worked fast freights and later the passenger service between Halifax and Truro. He served as Chairman of the Nova Scotia United Transportation Union. In his youth, he was a hockey player, a baseball player, a minor sports coach, and umpire. In his retirement he was active in his community organizing senior activities, once receiving a "volunteer of the year" award from the Bible Hill Village Commission. He loved old time music, bowling, golf, horseshoes, card games, hockey and baseball. He leaves behind his wife, Marion Ruth (Brenton) of 58 years; his children, Kim (Ula), Linda (Terry McGill) and Ross (Heidi); grandchildren and great grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer, Robbie) Little, Amy Jean and Jonathan McIntyre, Phoebe Little, Devin (Marie, Samantha, Isaac) MacCallum, Chad (Vicki, Carter) MacCallum. Special thanks to all the health care workers who supported Elwyn over the past few months. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 17th all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Frank Locke officiating. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elwyn's memory may be made to the Bible Hill Cemetery, the SPCA, the VON, or a charity of choice.
