Born in Moose River Gold Mines, she was the eldest child of Herbert and Gladys (Miller) Newhook. Mamie loved her family and they were her life. She opened her home to family and friends providing a meal or a place to stay, either short or long term. She was an active member of Woodlawn United Church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and providing leadership as a Life Elder. She was a Life Member of the United Church Women and she loved her dear friends in the Connie Clark Unit. She worked for 20 years at Canadian Tire. In her retirement, she was able to spend more time with her family and friends, volunteering, enjoying a good game of Scrabble, reading and puzzles. She was predeceased by her husband Erle; brother, Russel; sisters, Mary Wilbur, Donna in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12th in Woodlawn United Church, Dartmouth. Burial will be at a later date in Higginsville Cemetery.
