Born in Higginsville, he was a son of the late Roy and Ruby (Jennings) Higgins. He was a long standing member of St. John's Anglican Church, Westphal, where he served as warden and parish warden, sang in the choir and was a member of the council. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Owls Head. He worked with the City of Dartmouth for 33 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Ivy; daughter, Shannon Weiterman, Mortons Harbour, Nfld.; son, Robert Woodgate, Westphal; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion (Mrs. Fred Laybolt), Viola (Mrs. George Laybolt), Lake Charlotte; brothers, Leslie, Brookvale; Eric, Higginsville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Erle, Lyle. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 79 p.m. Sunday, funeral 1 p.m. Monday, all in St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Ship Harbour, Rev. Pamela Bishop officiating.
