  • Obituary: ROCKLAND - Charlotte M. Bishop, 87, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill in Camden, after an extended period of declining health. Born in East Machias, October 26, 1918, she was the daughter of John and Zona Jones Mattatall. Moving to Rockland at a young age, she was educated in local schools and was a 1936 graduate of Rockland High School. On Dec. 25, 1936, she married Carl Ladd. For several years she worked at The Bell Shops in Rockland. July 6, 1943, she married Maurice Lake in Rockland. The couple made their home on High Street where Charlotte briefly operated a beauty shop. They later made their home on Berkley Street before settling on Holmes Street. During that period, Charlotte served as care giver to her mother during her declining years. Mr. Lake died August 9, 1970. August 19, 1972 she married Aiden "Red" Bishop in Rockland. Mr. Bishop died September 4, 1988 For the next several years, she worked at the Bette Fan Shop and from 1968 to 1986 as front desk receptionist at W.C. Ladd Insurance Company. For about a year Mrs. Bishop resided with her grand-daughter Francesca "Frankie" Makinen, who provided loving care for her grandmother. The last of three siblings, Charlotte is survived by three daughters, Lynda Matson and her companion Donald Demmons of Cushing, Michelle Anne Keller and her husband David of Forest Hill, MD, Sandra La Chance and her husband Larry of Lisbon Falls; eight grandchildren Francesca Lynn Makinen and her companion Harold Clark of Cushing, Michael J. Baudanza of Rockland, John M. Russo and his wife Kara of Memphis, TN, Adrienne M. Russo and her fiancé, David Ryan both of Farmington, Alexander M. Clark of Forest Hill, MD, Debra LaChance of Lewiston, Lisa Riley of Bowdoinham. Kevin LaChance of Lisbon Falls, three great-grandchildren Mikaela Lyn Makinen, Rico Baudanza, and Brady Matthew Russo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
