Born in Miniota, Manitoba, April 20, 1929, Shirley was the daughter of the late William and Hilma (Anderson) Aylward. She moved at the young age of 4 to Malagash and was raised there on the family farm. Shirley, Lawson and family lived for many years in Bible Hill where she was a member of St. David's United Church and a member for more than 25 years with the Order of The Eastern Star, having joined Myrtle Chapter 21, Truro and later affiliating with Cedar # 3, Wallace. She and her husband later moved to East Wallace and enjoyed their retirement at Lawson's homestead, where they had met and been married in 1948. upon moving, she was a dedicated member of Malagash United Church, was very active in the Church and the UCW, was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 97, Malagash and MARS Group. She worked as a homemaker most of her life, taking great pride in raising her five children and a few foster children along the way. She was also a good lumberjack working beside Lawson in earlier years. Most recently she was very pleased to sponsor a little girl, Farjenna through World Vision. Shirley enjoyed quilting, plastic canvas, a good game of crokinole and any card game. Shirley was the happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Shirley was a cancer survivor since 1983 and canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society since that time. In recent years Shirley got the travelling bug, starting in 2006 with a trip to Ireland (her father's homeland) travelling with Anna McGoldrick's Musical Tours, run by Anna and Micheal with whom she became very close friends. She travelled several different places like New York, New Hampshire, Newfoundland, White Mountains, then back to Scotland and Ireland. A visit to Shirley's house would always promise a cup of tea and her famous donuts, a viewing of photos from her beautiful trips and people were in awe of her extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers. In passing she leaves to mourn, her son, Richard Lawson (Flora), Richmond; daughter, Linda Marie (Fred) Wildsmith, Bible Hill; son, William Edward (Janet), East Wallace; daughter, Debrah Jean (Ronnie) Gilroy, Riverview, N.B.; grandchildren, Ward, Faith, Heather, William, Michelle and Christine; 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawson in 2005; daughter, Patricia Ann; infant son, Patrick; great grandson, Bradley; sister, Colleen; brother, Robert.
