  • Obituary: MacKINNON (Gammell), Dorothy Elaine "Dottie" '96 59, Salmon River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday morning, November 20, 2015, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Mona (Kindervater) Gammell. Dorothy was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a baby and became an adult who had a career of 34 plus years with TD Bank, Truro. She was a loving mother and grandmother and family came first with her. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Victor; son, Jason (Kim); granddaughters, Avery, Kailyn; step-grandchildren, Luke, Lily, Laila; sisters, Shirley (Bill) Barker, Dartmouth; Frances Perrin, Elizabeth (Alvin) Lemmon, Martha Gammell, Wanda Smith; brothers, Wayne (Glenda) Gammell, Gordon (Jane) Gammell, all of Dean; sisters-in-law, Nancy Gammell, Windsor; Anne (Fred) Blair, Hilden; Nelson (Bev) MacKinnon, David MacKinnon, Truro; Harold (Gloria) MacKinnon, North River; Bill MacKinnon, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Calvin Gammell, Terrence Gammell; sister, Beverley Gammell; brothers-in-law, Dave Perrin, Kennard Smith. Special thanks are extended to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health Centre for your exceptional care; you went above and beyond. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall '96 Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Dorothy's family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2015, in St. James Presbyterian Church, 725 Prince Street, Truro, Reverend Clair MacLeod officiating. Private family interment in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Family flowers only.
