  • Obituary: John Clifford "Jack" Weatherbee '96 79, Truro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Earl and Muriel (Nichols) Weatherbee. Jack held red seal certificates in autobody, welding, high pressure welding and millwright. He worked at various places around Truro and Debert, and at Halifax Shipyard. He was very gifted musically and played guitar, fiddle, spoons, accordion, harmonica and piano; he was also a beautiful singer. He grew up as a nature enthusiast and taught his kids about hunting, fishing, backwoods camping and survival skills. He enjoyed teaching his kids to ride mini-bikes and building gas powered go-carts and dune buggies to drive. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty (Roblee); children, Joan-Anne Weatherbee (Rollie Hersey), Truro; Jackie Weatherbee, Truro; Dana Weatherbee (Dawn Skeaff), Belmont; Lisa Weatherbee, Fort Ellis; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Travis Weatherbee; grandson, Nicholas Forbes; sister, Joannie Weatherbee. Private family gathering will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in Jack's memory to IWK Health Centre Foundation are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall '96 Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
