  • Obituary: 74, of Robin Drive, Canton, CT died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at McLean Home, Simsbury, CT. He was born March 26, 1928 in Revere, MA, Son of the late Walter M. Hill, Sr. and Helen (Aitken) Hill and had lived in South Hampton, NH for 24 years. He resided in many states, primarily in Connecticut, while also living in Luxembourg for two years. He was an active volunteer in community service. He attended the University of Maine, and was a 1950 graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. Mr. Hill was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy. He was an aircraft engineer at Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford, CT for eight years prior to working for General Electric, Lynn, MA for 12 years prior to his retirement in 1990. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Wenty and Rob Norgen of Sedona, AZ, Barbara J. and Thomas H. Checksfield of Canton, CT and Mary and Doug Mattern of Plaistow, NH; a sister, Elizabeth Brewer of Boothbay Harbor, ME and two grandchildren, Christopher and Molly Checksfield both of Canton, CT. He will be remembered for his passion for music and his lively sense of humor. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2 p.m. in the Carling Chapel at McLean Home, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT. Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, CANTON, CT has charge of arrangements.
