He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Phinney. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Phinney of Joggins; three daughters, Alice (Mrs. Hector Vance), of Joggins; Kathleen (Mrs. Arthur Jones), of Toronto; and Judy (Mrs. Christopher Brown), of Parrsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Phinney of Parrsboro; and Mrs. William Shipley of Miami; and one brother, Roy, of Saint John. The funeral service was held from Smith's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Doering officiating. Interment was in St. George's Anglican Cemetery.
