  • Obituary: NICHOLS, Earle Mansfield ~ Age 102, of Meadowvale, Annapolis Co., passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Berwick, Kings Co., on December 3, 1916, he was a son of the late Henry and Agnes (Slauenwhite) Nichols. Earle had worked for the Department of Fisheries for many years at various locations until his retirement. He and his wife had started, owned and operated the Nichols Store in Nictaux for several years. Earle had been a member of the Nictaux Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing bingo as well as hunting for deer and rabbits. Earle was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife of 79 years, the former Marguerite P. Parker; daughter, Sharon Acker (Donald Sherman), Nictaux; son, Carroll (Dorothy) Nichols, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Darren Acker, Wayne and Julie Nichols; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Etta, Gertie, Cassie, Violet and Edith; brothers, Percy, Charlie, George and Henry. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend a graveside service that will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 14, in Nictaux Cemetery. Rev. Patty Beals officiating. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Soldier's Memorial Hospital Veterans Unit.
