On April 16, 1949 He married Helen Mary Louise Kidney and had 3 children, Robert, William, and Debra and over the years his family continued to grow. Dad started working for Canada Post in Regina at the tender age of 16, while going to school. He continued to work at Canada Post for 41 years and retired at the age of 57 with the high distinction of Area Regional Manager and Post Master. During his career with the post office in the early years he did a lot of traveling by train to different towns sorting mail, stories he liked to share. While working he built the family home by himself and found time to couch his boys in baseball for years and hockey as well. In dad's retirement he continued to be a leader and had a big part in founding of Food for Learning Breakfast Program at Haultain School. He enjoyed couching a post office ladies softball team. Dad loved every aspect of sports from participating to watching. He was an avid curler with Canada Post, he liked to golf, loved fishing and of course a huge football fan. Dad also very much looked forward to the monthly casino/supper evenings with his sisters, Eunice and Gaileen and brother-in-laws. Retirement brought another project! The cottage at Mohr's Beach which he again built by himself, with the occasional help of family. He also helped others as well build the community of Mohr's Beach out at Last Mountain Lake. Dad had the opportunity to go south to Mesa Arizona for a few winters and spend the summers at the cottage he loved. The cottage was always open to company and loved the family visits, and hosted a family golf tournament for years. Dad continued to spend his summers at the beach until failing health brought him to Regina permanently in 2010, residing at the Bentley then to his final destination at William Booth where he passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 10, 2016.
