  • Obituary: Truro Daily News - 6 July 2011 Truro - Francis Arnold Wright, 85, Truro, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at home. Born in Framingham, Mass, US, he was a son of the late Roland and Helen (Roode) Wright. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1944-46 and from 1951-61 in several places overseas and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 26, Truro, and the Air Force Club, 102 Colchester Wing. Francis loved to dance, washer toss, play cards, wood working and making cabinets and dressers. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed everyone he met and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by children, Elaine (Al) Landry, Sherry (Pierce) Cormier, Rose Armirault, Debbie (Todd) Lane, Trisha Patton (Tom Gloade), John Wright, all of Truro, Brian, Halifax, Rob, Kitchener, Ont, John Graham, Boston; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Viv McNutt, Blanche MacKenzie (Harold), both of Truro; sister-in-law, Alice, Medicine Hat, Alta; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris May (Tucker); brother, Donald. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No 26 Tribute Service at 6:45 p.m.; memorial service on Friday, July 8, at 2 p.m., all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St, Truro, with Rev Roger Moore officiating. Interment in Watson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
