  • Obituary: GILBY: Pearl Annie Isobel, 88, of Prince Street, Truro, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 31, 2007, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness, in the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro. Born in Truro, July 21, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Annie (Mahar) Snow. She was predeceased by her husband, James Reginald; sons, Lee and Ross; daughter, North Taggart; sisters, Lillian McMillan (Gordon), Jean Reid (Harold), Hope Toole (Ross); daughter-in-law, Marie Gilby. She is survived by her son, Boyd (Simonne), Moncton; daughters, Laverne Watt, Debert; Janet Nelson (Lloyd), Bible Hill; Joyce Spencer (Wayne), Great Village; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pearl was a life long member of the Eastern Star Lodge, Myrtle Chapter 21and an adherent of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro. Her passions were her love of card games, auctions, yard sales, and most of all her family. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and her many, many friends. Visitation will be held 7-9pm this evening, Eastern Star Lodge Service 6:30pm this evening, and funeral service 4pm Tuesday, all in the Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, Rev. Peter Reid and Rev. Kaj Binderup officiating, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Internment will then be held in the Watson Cemetery, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or to a charity of your choice.
