  • Obituary: Feetham, Annie Sophia - "Miss Feetham", as she was respectfully known by students for many years in the Truro area, passed away in her 100th year on Saturday, March 1 at Karlaine Place in Truro. She was born on January 12, 1909 to Harry and Pauline (Langille) Feetham. After graduating from the Provincial Normal College in 1928, Annie taught school for over 40 years, first in Woodville, Kings County and then in the Truro area, notably in Alice Street Elementary and Truro Junior High. Annie was a member of the Colchester East-Hants Retired Teachers' Organization and the Nova Scotia Teachers' Union Retired Teachers' Organization as well as St. John's Anglican Church where she was the oldest member. In earlier years Annie travelled extensively and enthralled many students with her travel adventures. She was a great reader, maintained an interest in world affairs and enjoyed needlepoint as a hobby. As a teacher she was "one-of-a-kind" and enjoyed visits from many appreciative students through the years. Annie was a true lady in all aspects and maintained her dignity to the end. She possessed a great love for humanity and had a special place in her heart for children, the downtrodden and the poor. She was extremely unpretentious , practised humility and was devoted to her religion. Predeceased by two sisters, Hilda Jones and Ernestine Sansom, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Thanks are given to the staff of Karlaine Place for the excellent care given to Annie, and especially to Claire, Ruth, Lisa, Naida, Anita, Debbie and Sharon. Special thanks to Helene for the kind gift of her time. Thanks also to Dr. Frank Slipp and The Rev Lori Ramsey. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Service to be held in the Colchester Community Funeral Home 512 Willow Street, Truro at 11AM on Wednesday, March 5 with The Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at the Robie Street Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. John's Anglican Church, 23 Church Street, Truro, NS, B2N 3Z5.
