Born October 7, 1934, in Breslau Germany, Eva passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Devoted daughter of the late Otto and Maria Stern. Dearest wife of 61 years of Dr. Kenneth T. Steadman, beloved mother of Peter, Erich (Mimi), Karl, and Sharon (Christopher). Loving grandmother of Amanda, Patrick, Avery, Emma, and Carter. Eva graduated from Romulus High School and Cornell University. She worked as field director for the Ontario Girl Scout Council in Geneva before raising her children and actively volunteering for community organizations and nonprofit boards including the Geneva Library, the First Presbyterian Church, Family Counseling of the Finger Lakes, the women's auxiliary at Geneva General Hospital, the Girl Scouts, the Geneva Historical Society, the Finger Lakes Health Foundation, the Presbyterian Church, and the women's volunteer organization P.E.O. She received the 2016 Geneva Rotary Club Springstead award with her husband for their community service. She was an accomplished needle worker, cultivator of orchids, and host mother to over a dozen Rotary Youth Exchange students. As the daughter of the founder of Stern's Nurseries/Stern's Miracle Gro, she continued the family's love of nature and plants through her avid gardening at their house on Hastings Road. Fondly known worldwide as Eva from Geneva, Eva traveled extensively to numerous countries and all continents including Antarctica with her husband Ken, fostering a love of global adventure in her grandchildren.
