  • Obituary: MARLBORO - Dorothy "Freda" (Pearson) Potter, 57, of 58 Water St. died Saturday night in Framingham Union Hospital after she was stricken ill at her home. She leaves her husband, Donald E. Potter; a son, Donald S. Potter of Hudson; a daughter, Cpl. Debra A. Potter of Marlboro, with the Marine Corps in California; her mother, Margaret "Stella" (Langille) MacRae of West Newton; two sisters, Elizabeth Washburn of Sandwich and Vivian de la Vega of Marlboro; a grandson; nephews and nieces. Mr. and Mrs. Potter observed their 34th wedding anniversary Oct. 28. She was born in Waltham, daughter of Wilbert S. MacRae, and lived here 25 years. She graduated from West Newton High School in 1952. She was a nurse's aide at Waltham Hospital, retiring in 1956 due to illness. Mrs. Potter was a member of First Church, Congregational, and served on many parish committees. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Waltham. She was a former longtime volunteer for the local Girl Scouts of America. A candlelight service will be held at 6 p.m. tomorrow in First Church, Congregational, 35 High St. The Rev. Wayne N. Pruitt will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church, Congregational, 35 High St., Marlboro, 01752, or a charity of one's choice. John P. Rowe Funeral Home, 57 Main St., is directing arrangements.
