  • Obituary: It is with sadness we announce the passing of Agnes S. Ripley (Langille) of Amherst, NS. Agnes passed away peacefully, with loving family by her side, at Gables Lodge on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Born in Bass River, NB, she was a daughter of the late David and Greta (Roberts) Thompson. Agnes was employed with the Housekeeping Department of the Highland View Regional Hospital for 18 years, and for the 3 years prior to her retirement held the position of Executive Housekeeper. She was a member of the Salvation Army, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10 and Ladies Auxiliary, RCAF 105 Cumberland Wing, and a former member of the Elks Lodge (Royal Purple). She loved crafts, gardening, writing and dancing. She had a marvelous gift for writing poetry. She will be dearly missed by her children, Wayne (Judy) Langille, Amherst, NS, Ralph (Colleen) Langille, Windsor, NS; Darlene (Rollie) O'Blenis, Windsor, NS, Cyril (Peggy) Langille, Three Mile Plains, NS; daughter in law Sandra Langille, Calgary, AB; 25 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; step children June (John) Hutchinson, Halifax, and Nancy (Cecil) Smith of Linden, NS; many step grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren as well as many extended family, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her first husband Norman Langille, her second husband Robert Ripley; sons Lee and Garry; daughter in law Anna Langille. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS, (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. Agnes' funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2 pm, Shelley Trenholm officiating. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery will be held in the spring.
