DAVIDSON, Nita Baird - Stellarton
It is with deep felt sadness that the children of Nita Baird Davidson announce that she died on November 24, 2004. Nita was born on April 3, 1923, in Caribou Island, Pictou Co., and was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Baird) Langille. In 1943, Nita and Gerald Davidson were married and had been residents of Stellarton for the past 55 years. Nita was extremely active in the community, fulfilling numerous volunteer roles. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, she was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in The Ladies Guild and The Florence Young Atlantic Mission Society. Nita is recognized in her community for her outstanding talent as a seamstress and quilt maker. She made her first quilt at the age of nine. Nita, both grandmother and great-grandmother, was the devoted and loving mother of Gerry (Janette), Philip (Nancy), Joan (Bruce), Edythe (David), and Pam (Michael). She is also survived by her siblings, Charles, Margaret, Alex, Gordon, Mona, and Lloyd. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald and daughter, Judy; grandson, Stephen, and brother, John. Visitation will be held today in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Acadia Avenue, Stellarton, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Foord St., Stellarton. Reception to follow. Burial service will be held in Central Caribou Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
