Born in Tatamagouche, he was a son of the late Gordon and Flora (Tattrie) MacBurnie. He received his education in Tatamagouche, but learned his carpentry trade in Truro. He went on to work as a carpenter in the Tatamagouche and surrounding areas for a total of 59 years retiring at age 73. He worked for a period as a clerk with Bank of Nova Scotia from 1927 to 1933. Surviving are daughter, Jewel (Donald) Forbes, Orleans, Ont; grandson, Darren (Kari); great-grandson, Parker, both of Kelowna, B.C; sister, Mabel Clifford, Tatamagouche. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan; brothers, Gerald and George. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, Rev. Bonnie Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Tatamagouche Village Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore Health Services Foundation, or Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche.
