  • Obituary: Langille, Kenneth George – 88, Tatamagouche, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche. Born in Tatamagouche, he was a son of the late Roy and Alice (Cassidy) Langille. He attended school in Tatamagouche and following graduation, was briefly employed at the old age security office in Halifax. He then worked for Maritime Steel & Foundry, New Glasgow until enlisting in the Canadian Army. Upon his discharge he was hired by General Motors in Moncton. He returned home in 1946 to work with his father in the family-owned General Motors dealership, Langille Bros. & Co, where he became sole proprietor and managed the business until retirement in 1976. Ken and his wife spent many winters in Florida where they made numerous friends. He was an enthusiastic fisherman, enjoyed taking photographs and loved spending time with family where he was affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Bampie". Ken was a member of Sharon United Church where he was a former elder, serving on various committees. He was Chairman of the Village Commission for a term, a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a past Master of Keystone Lodge A.F & A.M. where he received his fifty-five year bar from the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth (Tattrie) and by a son, Steven. He is survived by a daughter Jennifer Lord (Joe) of Kentville, by three grandchildren; Krisann Nix (Drew) of Port Philip, Kendra King (Glenn) of Middle Sackville and Jared, of Kentville and by five great grandchildren; Cole and Owen Nix and Mike, Brooke and Robbie King, a sister, Bernice MacLennan of Tatamagouche, a brother, Boyd (Donna) of Saint John, N.B. and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter's Funeral Home where the family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 19, 2012, from 6 to 8 PM. A memorial service will be held at Sharon United Church on Friday, July 20, 2012, at 2:00PM, Chuck Paterson DLM officiating. A private family interment will follow the reception. Memorial donations may be made to Sharon United Church, Willow Lodge or a charity of choice. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. Moss and all of the staff of Willow Lodge for their dedicated assistance and much kindness shown to Dad.
