  • Obituary: LANGILLE, Basil Underwood - 84, passed away peacefully on January 6, 1998, in George Orley Centre, Burnaby, B.C. after a lengthy illness. Born at Gulf Shore, Pugwash, he was the eldest son of the late Morrell and Mary Margaret (MacIVOR) LANGILLE. He moved to Trail, B.C., in 1936 and later to Vancouver, B.C., during which time he served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War from 1940-1945. He returned to Vancouver, where he resided and was self-employed until his retirement several years ago. Surviving are sister, Marie (Mrs. Murray SMITH), Pugwash; brothers, Edgar and wife Jean, Sarnia, Ont.; Otis and wife Lillian, Cornwall; Ivan, Amherst; sister-in-law, Doreen (SARSON) LANGILLE, Pugwash; his dear friend, Lois LELAND and her sons, Brent and Gregg, Vancouver, B.C.; many nieces, nephews and friends across Canada. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, Ernie; sister-in-law, Mary (BROWN) LANGILLE. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held in George Orley Centre Chapel. It was largely attended by relatives and friends from that area. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
