Notes

  • Obituary: Kenrick Marian, 97, Middle Stewiacke. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marian Kenrick, on April 17, 2014, at Willow Lodge Home for Special Care in Tatamagouche. Marian was the daughter of the late George S. and Jennie Dickey, of Middle Stewiacke. Marian is survived by her daughter Kathy (Mary Jane), of Tatamagouche, as well as two grandsons; Tim (Erin) Stewart of Cranbrook, BC and Brad (Tara) Stewart of Milton, ON; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kyah; siblings, George, Margaret "Marnie" and Jean; many nieces and nephews. Marian was pre-deceased by her husband, Doug; as well as three brothers (Lee, Ernie, Franklin (Jiggs), and one sister, Gertrude. Marian was born and lived almost all her life in Middle Stewiacke, and she always considered that to be home, even after she moved into extended care. Music played an important role in Marian's life. She sang in the Middle Stewiacke Church Choir for many years, as well as the Truro Chorale. She introduced a music program to various elementary schools in the area, and led the church Junior Choir for many years. Marian was a life member of the Middle Stewiacke UCW, frequently cooking and baking for some church or community event. She also contributed to the day-to-day running of the family business '96 Kenrick Brothers General Store. Her grandsons were her pride and joy, and she loved nothing more than seeing them, or even just hearing about their lives and happenings, through phone calls and conversations. Marian will be greatly missed by family and friends throughout the Stewiacke Valley as well as much further afield. The family wishes to express our heart-felt gratitude to the entire staff at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche, who cared so well for Mom, for the last few years. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, April 28th, at 2:00pm in Middle Stewiacke United Church with a reception following. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Middle Stewiacke United Church.
