Notes

  • Obituary: Berniece Wickham passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Richfield, Utah at the age of 92. She was born Berniece Marjorie Cooper Swain on June 25, 1921, to Harold and Ethel Swain in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The oldest of three daughters, Berniece learned responsibility early in life as her mother passed away when she was twelve years old. As a child she enjoyed school and carried a love of reading and learning throughout her life. On August 31, 1940, she married William Frank Wickham in Toronto. Fifteen years later, in October of 1955, she and her entire family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kenora, Ontario. A lifelong devoted member of the Church, Berniece held many callings, including Branch and District Relief Society president while living in Canada. She and her husband immigrated to Utah in 1962 in order to raise their children in a more predominantly LDS society. For many years, Berniece greatly enjoyed the position of caring for the children who had come to the Logan temple to be sealed to their parents. Berniece always felt more at home in nature '96 and especially the mountains '96 than anywhere else. She loved trees, animals, streams, and especially flowers, and always planted a variety of flowers in her gardens, with tea roses as her favorite. The mother of eight children, she was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Deanna, and her youngest son, Monte Todd. She is survived by her husband of 73 years; her children Bill (Dar) Wickham, Scott (Juanita) Wickham, Donald Wickham, Gloria (Terry) Kidd, Berniece (Kim) Cronquist, and Marie (Marv) Forsythe; 25 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
