Born June 8, 1921, on a small farm in Clarence, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Robert and Ella Mae (Chesley) Leonard. In his youth, he liked to play ball and hockey. He was educated in a one room school and after graduation he worked on a farm for several years. When the Second World War came along he joined the Armed Forces in the Armored Tank Division and spent three years overseas in a theater of war in Holland, Germany and France. In 1945 he returned home from the war and went to work on a farm for a few more years. Eventually Donald, along with his brother Avard, bought a dairy farm in Granville Center that he farmed for 30 years. In 1952 he married Ethel Troop. He was Warden of All Saints Anglican Church, Granville Center for many years. In his senior years he enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage and cards of any kind. He is survived by brother, Ernest (Eileen), Bridgewater; nephew, , , , ; niece, . . . . He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel M. Troop· brothers, Avard and Harold. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal, Canon Kenneth Vaughan officiating. Interment will be in Wadeville Cemetery, Granville Center.
