Obituary: Ash, Arthur Donald, 77, Truro Heights, Truro passed away peacefully July 5, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family by his side. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Arthur and Myrtle (Weatherby) Ash. He was employed in the textile industry for Lewis Ltd., Stanfield's Ltd. and Crossley Carpets. After this he was employed by Baird's Septic. He was an adherent of the Truro Heights United Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Sadie Elizabeth (Carter) "Betty"; daughter, Shelley Jodrie (David), New Germany; sons, Gregory (Rebecca), Philip (Val), Jeffery (Wanda), all of Truro Heights, Stephen (Laura)., Stewiacke; sister, Mrs. Edie Fisher, Ontario; brother, Gary, B.C.; grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Benjamin, Crystal, Taylor, Jeremiah, Brennen, Tyler, Robyn, Daniel, David, Michael; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Justin; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Martha Scott; brothers, Ted Ash and Leonard Ash. Artie was well known for his never ending humour and generosity. The door to his home was never closed to family, friends and even strangers. Artie loved nature and being outdoors. He was always busy at "The Camp", tinkering on a new gadget, an Artie original. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8 from 2-4 pm; memorial service on Monday, July 9 at 11:00 am both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Pastor Greg Porter officiating. Interment to follow in Truro Heights Cemetery. Reception to follow the interment in Truro Height United Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Art's memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
