She was born Sept. 16, 1921 in Rockport. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. She is survived by two sons, John (Margie) McDavid of Rockport, and Andy (Melissa) McDavid of Salado; two daughters, Betty Ann (Ernest) Dimaline of Missouri City and Lisa (Bud) Duncan of Collierville, TN; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at the family residence, 1016 E. Orleans with visitation to be held afterward. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rockport Cemetery. Didder married first to Lt Ralph Clinton Schmelling Jr in November 1942. Clinton, as he was known, was a USAF pilot trainong officer killed Sept 24, 1943 in a training accident on Matagorda Island TX USAF training base in service during WWII. Clara {Didder} married Jack McDavid {later divorced)who ran GSM Insurance (formerly Rockport Insurance Agency). John M. McDavid Jr. married to Margie McDavid reside in Rockport and currently own and operate GSM Insurors.
