  • Obituary: WILLIAMS, Basil Passed away peacefully at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, Ontario on Wednesday February 28, 2001, William Basil Owen Williams of Burlington in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Lewis) Williams. Loving father of Lewis Williams and his wife Mary Shea of Whitby, Linda Williams Erdahl and her husband Robert of Kingston and Lorraine Seldon and her husband Stuart of Dundas. Much loved grandfather of Marisa Shea and Liam Williams, Leah and Sophia Erdahl, and Stephen, Alana and Ian Seldon. Dear brother of Eva Winterbourne of Burlington. Basil was a member of Port Nelson United Church, Burlington and an active member of the Burlington community. He was a charter member and Past President of the Nelson Lions Club, Past President of the Burlington Youth Residence, former President of Anbak Sales (Canada) Ltd. and Precision Paper Tube Ltd., Toronto, a member of the Board of Referees of the Employment Insurance Commission, Hamilton and District (1976-2001) and a member of Probus Club of Burlington. Basil served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII. He was also a member of the Richview Golf and Country Club and the Burlington Curling Club. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW) BURLINGTON (905) 632-3333) on Monday from 3-5 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Port Nelson United Church, 3132 South Drive (at Rossmore) Burlington on Tuesday March 6, 2001 at 11 a.m. Private Interment. If desired, expressions of sympathy to Port Nelson United Church or the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
