Boots was a 1945 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, and remained active with the "Jackson Jills" with helping to organize reunions of her graduating class. Boots had a successful career with the Federal Aviation Administration, and later with both the U.S. Secret Service and as a Deputy Clerk of the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. After retirement, Boots enjoyed serving as a hostess of many bus trips to Biloxi. College football and bingo were her hobbies. Boots was predeceased by her parents, Ruth O'Steen Archibald Ferree and Bill Archibald, her beloved step-father, Walter Ferree, her former husband, Willard "Bergen" Phillips and her sister, Celeste Ritter. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Tillman, Cynthia Martin, and Sandra Staley, all of Jacksonville, and Patricia Robison, of Pittsburg, PA; five grandchildren: James Tillman of Jacksonville, John and Sarah Robison of Pittsburgh, Matt Robison of Alameda, CA, and Samantha Staley of Addison, TX; one great-granddaughter, Erin Tillman of Jacksonville, many cousins, nieces and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Community Hospice of NE Florida. A Graveside Service will be held at Arlington Park Cemetery on Tuesday, October 18th at 11 am.
