  • Obituary: COTUIT - Franklin Hinckley Perry, only son of Ralph Foster Perry and Anne Hinckley Perry, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at his home. Born and educated in Attleboro, he was a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, after which he sailed two years as an engineering officer for American Export Lines. He served in the Navy for over 20 years during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1972 with the rank of lieutenant commander. He was the loving husband of Gretchen Riedell Perry; father of Ralph F. Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cmdr. Michael R. Perry of Maryland; grandfather of Franklin D. Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Victoria Smith of Norfolk, Va. Mr. Perry was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America in Great Britain and Europe, while stationed in England and Virginia. An avid gardener, he was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels for 12 years, and loved to travel with his wife. After his Navy retirement, he was a member of Loudon County Board of Realtors in Virginia, and became president of that board. In 1979, he settled in Marstons Mills and joined his father-in-law's firm, Carl F. Riedell & Son Inc. A memorial service will be held in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Wianno Avenue, Osterville, on Thursday, Feb. 15, at noon. Burial will be private. Memorials in his name may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church Music Fund, P.O.
