  • Obituary: Prince George Citizen Prince George,BC April 26, 1969 Pioneer woman mourned One of Prince George's pioneer women, Mrs. Edna Williams died August 22. Mrs. Williams, 80, died following a heart attack. Services were held Monday at Assman's Funeral Chapel, and conducted by Rev. Ben Taylor. Mrs. Williams was born in Jamestown, North Dakota in 1889. She came to Prince George on the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway in December 1914. She and her late husband George Williams lived in South Fort George. He worked as a riverman and a grocer in the area. Mrs. Williams moved to Prince George from South Fort George in 1953 following the death of her husband. She was an active member of the Ladies of the Royal Purple, Cariboo Women's Institute, Rotary Ann's, Quest Club and Knox United Church Women. She is survived by a sister Mrs. Donald [F.] Wanner [Ruth McCully] of Jamestown, two sons Ted and Chuck of Prince George and a number of grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Wood, Martin Caine, Robert Carter, John Nilson, Vic Morgan and Ivor Guest. Active pallbearers were Harold Moffat, Duncan Munro, Al Cordiner, Gus Lund, Albin Nilson and Jim Clark.
