Obituary: Fisher, Donald Mayhew, 83, Bass River, passed away March 4, 2007 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Bass River, he was a son of the late Mayhew and Ida (Huntley) Fisher. He was a veteran of the Second World War where he served with the Royal Canadian Engineers and was in the Canadian Army in Debert, Halifax and Shelburne. He was a rancher in British Columbia, an Acadian Lines bus driver and a school bus driver. He had an interest in horses and livestock and in his later years he built horse-drawn carriages and wagons. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Margaret (Johnson); son, Gordon (Myrna), Bass River; daughter, Helen Funk (Will), Fort St. James, B.C,; grandchildren, Donna, Joanne, Paul, Lana, Darla, Wade; great-grandchildren , Blake, Katie, Kristen, Jasmine; sister, Shirley McLellan, Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Janet Giddens; brother "Robie" Fisher. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. with a private family funeral service on Thursday at 2:00 pm., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Spring interment in Economy Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation.
