  • Obituary: Marjorie Lenore Copp Chick, 92 of Slate Road, King passed away on Tuesday August 6, 2002 at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Danbury after a brief illness. She was born February 8, 1910 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to the late Emma and Herbert Copp. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Lois Ethel Copp. Mrs. Chick was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church in King and of the Methodist Women's Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making Christmas ornaments. Many of which were given as gifts and others donated to various charities. She won many ribbons at the Dixie Classic and Stokes County Fairs for items she made. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Alfred MacGregor, her second lifelong husband, Herman Boynton Chick, and one son, Herman Boynton Chick Jr. One son and his wife Ronald and Constance MacGregor of Hopedale Massachusetts; her daughter, Dorothy Lois Chick Moore of the home, 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren survive her. A memorial service as held at Bethel United Methodist Church on Hwy 66 in King NC Sunday August 11th at 2:00pm. The Rev Jack Knight officiated. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethel Church United Methodist Church or Hospice of Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Danbury, NC.
